Global Media Journal — Canadian Edition (GMJ–CE) is a fully open access, double-blind peer-reviewed academic journal hosted by Saint Paul University, Ottawa, Canada. The journal is dedicated to advancing scholarship in communication and media studies, welcoming high-quality, original submissions that:
- Advance communication and media theory within Canadian and global contexts
- Produce empirical or analytical research relevant to Canadian media landscapes
- Foster critical discourse on communication issues central to Canadian public life and policy
- Apply communication theories/approaches to Canadian case studies, including media, political, and cultural contexts
- Pioneer innovative methodologies tailored to Canadian communication research and practice
- Promote inclusive media practices by engaging with Aboriginal studies within Canadian communication landscapes
GMJ–CE aims to foster deeper understanding of communication and media both in Canada and globally.
All articles are published online, freely and immediately upon publication, with no subscription, access, or article processing charges (APCs). Authors do not pay any fees at any stage—submission, review, production, or publication.
In line with the Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on Publications (Canada), all content is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license allows others to share, reuse, and adapt the work—even commercially—provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors.
GMJ–CE publishes two themed issues per year, each comprising:
- A section of peer-reviewed scholarly articles, and
- A section dedicated to book reviews.
